‘Made from bamboo: a truly sustainable material’

Working closely with the John Lewis furniture buying team, this chair was developed especially for their 150yrs anniversary collection. Alex and the ByALEX studio, researched alternative materials with the purpose of producing the most sustainable chair available on the market. The frame was made from bamboo with a linoleum upholstered seat and back rest. Bamboo is fastest growing and is actually a grass, but it’s density and core strength made it the perfect material for this design.
